The story of the Aga Khan and the Ismailis. Who are they and how did they come to be? And what do they have to say in this ever-divided world?

Old photo of the Aga Khan
Photo sent to me by Abdul Hamid of Lebanon:
His Highness the Aga Khan while in Syria dated 31st July 1959 wearing the Arabic "EGAL".
Twenty two years ago, I had an intensely emotional working relationship with someone who proposed we sought an audience with the Aga Khan and to present to His Majesty our humanitarian projects with the intention of soliciting his support. The Aga Khan duly replied, graciously offered to send a plane to pick us up at a European city.
I was amazed to discover in her Aga Khan file that her correspondence with the Aga Khan began in the 1950s. I was immensely intrigued and curious to learn more about the legendary figure.
People like myself in this part of the globe have very little knowledge of the lives of the Aga Khans. For 20 years, I continued to search for materials of the Aga Khan and it was a miracle when I found a biography,Throne of Gold by Anne Edwards and I was awfully delighted.
I salute Shamir Allibhai for his invaluable contribution to put things right, especially at the time when the world seems to be so divided.
